The Calgary Ring Road is planned as a high capacity provincial freeway around Calgary that is expected to accommodate the city's and the province's growth for the next 50+ years. It will improve access to other major Calgary roads and provide a high-speed route around Calgary that connects to key provincial highways. The City of Calgary has an ongoing role in the Calgary Ring Road planning process. This participation includes:
- Reviewing and providing feedback on provincial plans and alignments.
- Exploring alternatives with the province to address city needs.
- Participating in public information sessions and responding to citizen queries.
