The City of Calgary: Get Involved With Parks

Get Involved With Parks

Parks

As a facilitator and educator of the city's park system, The City of Calgary Parks offers a large variety of ways for all members of the family to get involved with Parks.

Volunteer
Join the 7000+ Parks volunteers registered in a current volunteer program.

Adopt-a-Park - care for a park in your community
Natural Areas - control litter in a natural area within the city
Reader Rock Garden - greet visitors to Reader Rock Garden
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary - record wildlife at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary
Cemetery Tours - provided tours of local cemeteries
Ranger Program - promote safety in parks and on pathways

BP BirthPlace Forest Program
Have a tree planted in honour of your child. A forest is planted each year to honour babies born in Calgary. Each year an event is held for program registrants to celebrate the birth of their children. Program is free.

Pathway & River Clean-up
Help beautify your city by entering a group in the annual Pathway & River Clean-up event. Over 11,000 lbs of garbage is collected each year along the river and pathways.

NeighbourWoods Program
Enhance your front yard by planting a tree and tending to it. Limited number communities are chosen each year.

Community Gardens
Community gardens are highly valued because they contribute to the health and well-being of the community. Parks is pleased to support community gardens by working with community associations and gardening organizations in Calgary.

Community Orchards
The Community Orchards Project is a five year pilot project where Parks is planting fruit trees and shrubs to determine if orchards can grow, thrive, and produce in Calgary.

Sponsorships & Partnerships
Increase awareness in environmental and parks programs by sponsoring or partnering with Parks.
