8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Heart Atrium, Heart Building
SAIT Campus, Calgary, Alberta
The City of Calgary hosted this summit, building on the series of public roundtables held in May 2009 and with the goal of charting a framework for advancing innovative action regarding energy, climate change, GHG emissions, ecological footprint and sustainability.
The results
This project will support targets defined within Imagine Calgary
and PlanIt Calgary
and serve as a framework for articulating initiatives intent on reducing our ecological footprint through innovative action on energy issues taken by all communities (business, government, general public, etc).
Participants
Innovative and engaged individuals and groups including private citizens, large corporations, small business, students, governments, and institutions were among the over 200 participants.

Expectations
Outcomes for the Summit include generating a roadmap of pragmatic actions that will reduce our ecological footprint and ensure a low carbon future. To that end, we invite participants to measure their ecological footprint on our calculator
and consider what that metric represents. Connected to the calculator are opportunities to take action and track your progress. Identifying the potential to reduce your EcoFootprint and commit to action is a key outcome of the Summit.
Outcomes
The summit will add value to other City of Calgary initiatives including the development of a Community Greenhouse Gas Plan, The City Manager's Office of Sustainability Strategy and the World Energy Cities Partnership. This is an opportunity to develop a multi-stakeholder developed and ratified action plan to address future energy challenges.
