Private Graffiti Abatement Program
The City of Calgary will partner with residents and business owners in an effort to remove graffiti from private property.  Under the program, residents will call 3-1-1 to report graffiti on their property.   They will be asked to pay a $25 fee and sign a waiver granting a City contractor permission to remove the graffiti.  There is a $100 removal fee for businesses. All revenue will be reinvested into the program.

Fire Pits
In response to a Council notice of motion, Animal & Bylaw Services is investigating fire pit use.  A report highlighting our strategy to increase educational and enforcement efforts was approved earlier this year.  The success of this initiative will be evaluated by Council members in December of 2009.  The informational summary provided outlines common ways citizens can reduce their impact on their neighbours, most notably by burning clean dry firewood, keeping the fire to a reasonable size, and aligning use with optimal wind conditions.  Be sure to also check out our latest Shaw TV segment on fire pit usage Video File (1.92 MB).
